About Us

About Us: Founded in December 2008, the Altyn Muras Foundation is a non-for-profit charity group dedicated to helping orphanages in Central Asia. As students and young people, currently away from our home countries and living abroad, we have seen first hand the wealth of opportunities and much higher standards of living in contrast to the stark poverty and limited ways of life of some of the children at home.

History: We decided to create a charity organization after being exposed to the realities of disadvantaged children in Central Asia.
What was once just a simple project to educate orphaned children in Kyrgyzstan on the topic of Children’s Rights and HIV/AIDS has become our passion.
Today, the official number of orphans in Central Asia ranges from 120,000 to 150,000. Most of them live without the most basic necessities, such as food, electricity or warm clothes.

Mission: By raising and delegating funds to various orphanages in Central Asia, our mission is to promote the welfare of the less fortunate children, offer them a chance at a better life and an opportunity to grow and develop into valuable members of our society. We believe that creating full-fledged conditions for orphanages is possible, even if a bit idealistic. But inaction in this case is simply inhumane. Every child deserves a chance.

Funding: We raise funds through building and connecting the Central Asian communities abroad. Altyn Muras is largely supported by the charitable donations of private citizens and other organizations through a variety of social activities hosted throughout the year: the Annual Movie Night, charity balls, cultural get-togethers. Although the focus is on aiding the Central Asian region, everyone is welcome to join, participate and donate. As a non-for-profit organization, Altyn Muras is not directly affiliated with any groups or organizations.
All staff at Altyn Muras works solely on a volunteer basis, dedicating their time and ideas to this purpose.
Since we are in our early stages of development, we are currently working on several projects to upstart the flow of aid to orphanages in Central Asia. It is one of our priorities to keep each of our sponsors posted on the status of a given project. We do so to enable them to know exactly how and where their funds get distributed. All of our funding will go to a selected orphanage in the Central Asian region directly or through the local NGOs. We also plan to introduce a selection process for the positions of local representatives in each of the countries we are targeting, who will directly contact and coordinate with the orphanages and NGOs.
